Life on Lourensford

Inspiring a life-long Love of Learning, Newberry House Montessori School is situated on the picturesque and ecologically rich Lourensford Wine Estate, nestled at the foot of the Helderberg mountain, and caters for children from 18 months to 18 years of age.  Newberry House is founded on the Montessori philosophy where children are respected for their creative and individual natures.

Our philosophy places independence and interdisciplinary opportunity at the forefront of the child’s experience and we provide innovative, entrepreneurial and globally-relevant educational expertise.

The growth of our school means we are now able to offer places for the senior phase, incorporating Grades 10-12 who will write the internationally acclaimed Cambridge International Examinations Certificate. This IGCSE and AS-level syllabus offers a range of subjects tailored to the needs of each child, with an emphasis on flexible, holistic and practical learning.

There is also strong emphasis on extra-curricular involvement, including activities such as mountain biking, surfing, trail running, hiking, yoga and fishing.

The unique combination of our natural setting, inspirational staff, innovative philosophy and a structured curriculum, enables Newberry House “to inspire a life-long love of learning in the safety of an innovative and structured environment, preparing children for the future.”
